1) Gujarat’s Minister of State for Education, Praful Pansheriya launched the online learning platform, Shiksha Reform, in Surat. Shiksha Reform is a collaborative effort between Gujarat’s education department, Microsoft, and a leading Finnish university, aimed at delivering high-quality courses by experienced teachers to revolutionize education, particularly in technology. The platform offers short-term courses in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence and cyber security, allowing students to access various courses by paying a nominal fee, thereby promoting skill development and fostering innovation in education.

2) Election Commission announced that the voters above 85 years of age and Persons-with-Disabilities (pwd) with 40 percent benchmark disability can vote from home. The Commission launched the Saksham App to facilitate easier voting for PWDs and to avail facilities at Polling Stations.

3) Sadanand Vasant Date, Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad chief, has been appointed as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

4) India’s Sreeja Akula won the women’s singles title at the WTT Feeder Beirut II 2024 table tennis tournament at the Al Kawthar Secondary School in Lebanon.

5) Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a modern hospital built with Indian assistance in Bhutan’s capital Thimphu. Bhutan’s King Wangchuck conferred the ‘Order of the Druk Glyalpo’ to Prime Minister Modi, making him the first foreign Head of the Government to receive the honour.

9) Dr T N Subramaniam, an eminent mathematician of Indian origin and creator of Route One company & server for General Motors, passed away at the age of 76. Subramaniam, who migrated to the US in 1979, was renowned in academic circles in India and the US.

10) Insurance giant Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has emerged as the strongest insurance brand globally. According to the Brand Finance Insurance 100, 2024 report, the brand value of LIC remains stable at Rs 816 billion.

11) India and Mauritania held their first Foreign Office Consultations in Nouakchott, during which a wide range of issues from bilateral, regional, to global issues of mutual interest were discussed.

12) The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has given its stamp of approval to the name ‘Shiva Shakti’ for the landing site of India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission.

13) International Astronomical Union (IAU) has named an asteroid after Prof. Jayant Murthy, who was acting director of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) before his retirement in 2021. The asteroid 2005 EX296 has been designated as (215884) Jayantmurthy.

14) India launched ‘Operation Indravati’ to evacuate its citizens from violence-torn Haiti to the Dominican Republic. Haiti, a Caribbean country, has descended into chaos with armed gangs taking over its streets.

15) The Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO has successfully carried out the landing of its Reusable Launch Vehicle Pushpak at the Aeronautical Test Range in Chitradurga, Karnataka.This was the second mission showcasing autonomous landing after release from a helicopter.
